Solo Founder Approach

In the startup world, it’s often said you need a co-founder. While many agree, But sometimes we don’t need. If we think of investment as a bank loan. Does that mean we need to get married to get a loan? :) Many people want to start a business, but not all aim for a VC-fundable one. Often, they lack certain skills or time, leading to the need for hiring staff. ...

How to Verify if a Business Is Working or Not

It is a bit funny. Lots of people talk about how to get investments, but fewer people talk about how to verify if a business is working or not. Somehow, that is why the startup world might be broken. If I wanted to open a cafe after my retirement, I would do extensive market research. But I often see founders, especially first-time founders, just being optimistic about everything do without any preparation, and sadly sometimes, we just encourage them to do so. ...

Experienced vs Young Founders

There is a arguable topic: we often compare who are better between young founders and experienced founders. Typically, experienced founders come from significant roles within large corporations, often holding managerial or director-level positions. They bring with them extensive networks and deep domain knowledge. Certainly, they have their own advantages. However, this experience can be a double-edged sword. In traditional hiring, we look for candidates with proven success in their past roles, using resumes as a key indicator of future performance. But founding a startup is different. The qualities that make someone a good employee do not necessarily translate to entrepreneurial success. ...

Health vs Alcohol and Global Warming vs Commuting

Personally, I find it strange when people say they order fruit platters for health benefits while drinking alcohol. If they care about their health, they could simply drink less. And it is almost same or weirder, they worry about global warming but asking employees to commute to the office every day. The transportation sector is a significant source of CO2 emissions. If they really care about global warming, only hire someone who can walk to the office. ...

Engineer Saying No to CEO

One of the things I always get some complaints from my neighbor founders, AKA, CEO. They often tell me that their engineers are too negative, always saying ‘NO’ first. 😕 I agree with what they say, but as one of the engineer types of persons, I also know well why the engineers say that to them. Frankly, to say, even for me, I used to say ‘No’ to my boss or CEO a lot. Sometimes I know that is not a big deal, but based on the previous history of what we used to work together, we have some sort of anxiety about, ‘Oh, my CEO asked some dumb requests again, what a great Friday.’ 😩 and we are saying in our minds, ‘I know exactly how to deliver or do it in a way better than what they ask, but I will not give the idea to them.’ 😶 ...

Why Mvps in Startups Are Bad

Why most MVPs in a startup are so bad. People often think that if they spend money the product will be better. … It’s just the same; you keeping eating your breakfast on time doesn’t mean you will be healthier. Think about what is your menu and ingredients #startups #founders #MVP

Startup Success Unicorn Reality Check

When I first decided to quit my comfy corporate jobs (Galaxy far far away), one of the main reasons was I wanted to try to do something I wanted. In the early 201X, we still could do that, and somehow, if the idea was something new and creative, investors wanted to know more about it. In most startup events, everyone claimed that we would make a better world… haha, you can see some movies to joke about that. ...
